My Bicycle Trip Across Canada: Day 62: Ferry to Newfoundland

June 28th: Sydney, NS to Doyles, NL: 60km by bike

Biked 20k to get to the ferry. Yay! A break from biking!

Phill met two really interesting people. They were from Toronto/Hamilton, and had just spent a month farming in Cape Breton, and were now on their way to FL to hitchhike and the like. The one girl, Tings, is super cool. She makes me feel lonely: to meet someone like her makes me want to be with someone like that… but I haven’t had the privilege of dating anyone close to that. She had taken Arts & Science at Mac, and was currently doing her Master’s in Architecture. Her and a friend biked around Europe. She made a comic book about Hamilton. [here’s her website]

After talking to her and having lunch with Phill I went to the top deck and just looked out on the ocean and reflected on how amazing this whole trip is. 900 more kilometers to go though!

Biked 40k into Doyles. Found a campsite. The first 20k had some of the most gorgeous scenery I’ve ever seen. Then we experienced wind that blew us into the road. A car honked at us. But as Phill pointed out, “What, does he think we did that on purpose?”

Camped out at a nice site in Doyles. We made a fire and ate KD with broccoli and hot dogs.
