My Bicycle Trip Across Canada: Day 61: Cape Breton

June 27th: Antigonish, NS to Sydney, NS: 200km

Cloudy all day except in the last few hours. Biked the first 50 or so to Cape Breton on the Trans Canada. I was so happy and excited to be in Cape Breton!

Took highway 4 to avoid traffic. Biked 50 or 60k to St. Peter’s where we ate lunch. We split up from there and went alone.

It was only in Cape Breton where I saw some beautiful landscape in Nova Scotia. Irish Cove really stands out. I sat and ate by this beautiful location after 25k. Then biked another 25k to Eoin Bay (sp?) and got french fries. A drunk girl came in and we chatted. She invited me to a wedding. Lots of hills.

Got into Sydney and to Jacques at 8pm. They gave me a shower and beer and stories. Jacques used to sail and teach at a college. Him and his wife biked across Canada a year after they retired on a tandem. Great people.
