My Bicycle Trip Across Canada: Day 44: Deadly Highway

June 10th: Pineview Campground to some farmer’s lawn: 130km (?)

[out campsite that morning]

This was a hotter day. Went into Deep River at noonish. Ate at a beautiful picnic area. I tried to go swimming but the clouds wouldn’t make up their minds.
Got groceries and headed off.

It got really hot around 4. We got off Highway 17 because it is just awful (also: deadliest highway in Ontario). Went into Pembroke and got some drinks/coffee.

Took some side roads and visited some quaint towns.

Eventually gave up at night time and knocked on a farmer’s door to ask to sleep on their lawn. They said yes! First try. Nice folks. Their oldest son had just graduated from highschool and had a party there the day before.
