My Bicycle Trip Across Canada: Day 8: Dragons and Ponies

May 5th: Rest Day in Kamloops, BC

This morning Kathy made us porridge and then Ray, Phill and I biked to the Dragon Boat center. We were a bit late getting in. [Ray fixed Phill’s crank arm in the morning, that may be why we were so late]

Dragon boating was intense! Hard at first to get the hang of, then tough because of endurance. A LOT of fun though.

[that’s Ray behind me and Phill, smiling]

Afterwards we went back to Kathy’s and just hung out.

Then we headed to a $7 million horse ranch. They had 60 horses there. We saw lots of beautiful horses and foals. They fed us well and gave us a tour of their insanely nice house.

We left early and went back to Kathy’s. Phill slept (his knee) and I was about to read when Ray told me that Phill’s wheel was untrued (sp?) Turns out it was a broken spoke. Ray and I went to Ray’s to replace it. Here’s hoping we don’t break any others before Calgary.

Phill and I later that night went to the Noble Pig [a bar] and got some brews and talked.

  1. Sam says:

Can you see the crack in the crank arm in that pic? Crazy it stayed together.
